Description
About Heparin Sodium Injection
Heparin sodium injection is an anticoagulant medication that may help prevent and assist with treatment of blood clots in conditions such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism and myocardial infarction. It works by inhibiting the formation of fibrin clots. Heparin sodium may also help prevent clot formation in indwelling catheters and certain surgeries.[1][2]
Heparin sodium provides rapid onset of action, making it making it a potential option during treatments where blood clotting is a concern. A healthcare physician may maintain regular monitoring of blood coagulation parameters, such as activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT).[2]
