Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine medication that may assist with severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, when immediate action is required. It may also help with motion sickness, nausea and vomiting. Diphenhydramine works by blocking the action of histamine, a substance in the body that is involved in allergic reactions.[1][2]
This medication is administered via intramuscular or intravenous injection, allowing for rapid administration. Diphenhydramine injections may be useful in emergency situations where oral administration is not feasible or when a rapid response is needed.[2][3]
